Being playful breaks up a certain “stuckness” in relationships if not overdone. Ever consider with your child (age appropriate of course) for example, to say: let’s just play together for a while. Then bring out the cards, draw pictures together, or blow bubbles. Don’t use the playtime to keep them busy, join in. You can do this with your adult people as well. You may be surprised at the relief when a role is put down and just being relaxed people together is picked up.
